The Argument for Long Travel Bikes - Opinion

The Argument for Long Travel Bikes - Opinion

"Big bikes exist for one simple reason - pushing limits."

My opinion is the confidence that a big bike inspires is well worth it. There have been plenty of times when I wouldn't have hit something had it not been for the confidence my big bike inspired. I could then come back and ride it on a smaller bike and gain those skills also. Big Bikes, yay!

One last thing, don't get stuck on what bike blah blah blah. Pick what you like and make sure you are having fun, that's really all that matters. Don't be scared to change up bikes/styles it will keep the skills fresh and well rounded. It's all 2 wheels don't worry about the size of the wheels or how much or little suspension it has. It's all fun. Ride Bikes!

Is Your Head Safe? Shocking Helmet Certification Impact Test Footage

ARF Presents: Certified vs Non-Certified Bicycle Helmet Impact Test from Athlete Recovery Fund on Vimeo.

ARF Presents: Certified vs Non-Certified Bicycle Helmet Impact Test.. Come along with pro riders Mike Clark, Brandon Dosch and Chad Kerley. This video shows without a doubt the tremendous difference in protection between certified and non certified helmets. We tried to simplify the physics as much as possible but the results are undeniable. Make sure if you are riding BMX you are wearing the proper protection. It could mean the difference between riding again or not.

To the Mountains - Kona Style

Kona 2013 Explosif 27.5 from Kona Bikes on Vimeo.

There’s nothing quite like the sweet ride of steel. Especially when it comes to an all-purpose trail bike. The new Kona Explosif takes our hardtail heritage and dashes it with some new—most notably the advantages of 27.5 wheels. Featuring a Kona Cromoly double butted frame, the Explosif uses aggressive trail geometry (68-degree headtube, low bottom bracket and short 420mm chainstays), while at the same time providing options via a sliding dropout system that can accommodate singlespeed, a 135mm standard geared system, and even a 142×12 thru axle for gnarlier applications. Throw in ISCG tabs, dropper post cable routing, a 44mm internal headtube for tapered forks and most trails imaginable are now yours to blow up. Enjoy the pyromania.

Falling Creek 12/7-12/9

Great weekend at Falling Creek.  I got the step down in (sorry no finished photos) and it got really good reviews, I was having a ton of fun on it and it should give really good speed to hit the last jump.  With that being said I didn't get the last jump in but I did give it a solid effort. The ditch witch decided it wasn't gonna happen. I rolled the track to the inside and couldn't walk it back on, some of the guys were pointing to a new looking split they said they think gave it the extra distance to stretch off. We had about 20 people out and they were all shredding. There were people from Danville, Martinsville, Pulaski, Roanoke, and Lynchburg that I know of. Really cool to see.

Without these dudes it would be a lot different.   Thanks to John, Randy and Jess for holding me down.

Good to see, shredding together everything from 20" to DH rigs.  Good Fun.  Sunday was cool to see.
